Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) Course

This new qualification, effective from October 1, 2024, replaces the previous Door Supervisor Refresher (Top Up). The course runs over 3 days and includes First Aid training. Learners who already hold a valid First Aid qualification with at least 12 months remaining will attend only the last 2 days.

Door Supervisors serve as the critical first point of contact between businesses and the public. It’s vital that they receive effective training to meet legal standards and operate confidently in this challenging role.

This refresher course is designed for Door Supervisors holding a valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence who need to update their skills and comply with the latest licence-linked requirements effective from October 2024.

Learners will complete approximately 21 hours of training. The SIA requires a minimum of 11 hours and 15 minutes of contact time (1.5 days) if self-study is used.

We offer Blended Learning, which includes completing knowledge modules at home via workbook and ACT certification, followed by practical assessments and a multi-choice exam at our centre. Additional distance learning on First Aid knowledge is also required.

Mandatory Modules include:

• Principles of terror threat awareness
• Safeguarding the public from incidents of spiking
• Application of physical intervention skills

Assessment involves a multiple-choice exam, a Q&A session with a tutor, and practical assessments. All modules must be passed to renew the Door Supervisor licence, valid for 3 years.

The First Aid component must be successfully completed before progressing to the Door Supervisor practical elements.

This refreshed qualification ensures learners meet updated standards and are prepared for the responsibilities of modern Door Supervisors.
