The Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health is designed for individuals who want to support positive mental health both in the workplace and in their personal lives. It builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health, but prior attendance of a Level 1 or Mental Health First Aid course is not required.
This course is suitable for anyone in a work environment looking to enhance mental health awareness, improve early intervention strategies, and contribute to a healthier work culture. It is delivered monthly for individual learners and can also be arranged at your workplace or venue for group bookings on a flexible schedule.
Learners will explore a range of mental health conditions, understand how to provide support, and learn how to start constructive conversations with colleagues or individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The training also includes guidance on how to handle crisis situations such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and suicidal thoughts.
Course content includes identifying common mental health conditions, understanding the impact of drugs and alcohol, applying First Aid for Mental Health action plans, and the practical application of mental health support strategies in the workplace.
Assessment includes practical scenario demonstrations, questioning, and a final written exam consisting of multiple choice and open questions.
Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded an Ofqual-regulated Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health. Certification is valid for three years. Although not mandatory, annual refresher training is strongly recommended to maintain current knowledge and skills.
